How to get to Ithaca
Ithaca is:
- 2 hours from Kefalonia international airport
- 40 minute flight from Athens & 30 minute boat transfer from Kefalonia
- 3 hour flight from London
- 4 hour ferry from Patra (twice daily service, 12:30 and 20:30)
- 2 hour ferry from west mainland port of Astakos
- 1 hour ferry from Lefkada
- 1 hour drive away from Preveza International airport
- 20 minute sea plane flight from Patra
- 40 minute sea plane flight from Corfu
Access by ferry
Ferries connect Ithaca and Kefalonia to Lefkada, Patra and Astakos (in Etoloakarnania) on a daily basis.
Itaca has 2 ports, Vathy and Piso Aetos which are both connected to Patra through Sami, the port of Kefalonia, with the ferry called "Kefalonia".
Piso Aetos is also connected by ferry to Fiskardo of Kefalonia, to Vasiliki of Lefkada and to Astakos (in Etoloakarnania).
Ferries connect Frikes to Fiskardo and Vasiliki or Nidri.
By car or bus
From Athens on a daily basis by bus:
1. Kefalonia bus to Patra > ferry to Kefalonia and Ithaca
2. Astakos bus to Astakos and then ferry to Ithaca
By plane
Fly to Kefalonia and then by ferry to Ithaca either from Sami to Piso Aetos or from Fiskardo to Frikes
Charter Flights
During summer there are many charter flights to Argostoli of Kefalonia.
